Vancouver, B.C., Canada – Scott Hargrove returned home to Vancouver from the opening two races of the Pro Mazda season at the Allied Building Products Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with solid results and a great start to the season.

Hargrove, 19, qualified for the Saturday race on the outside pole during the morning qualifying session. The race was delayed due to rain. At the start of the race Scott started on the damp side of the track, costing him one spot during the rush into Turn One. He maintained his third place position for the remainder of the race, finishing right under the rear wing of second place at the checkered flag for his first podium of the season.

Sunday dawned bright and cool, perfect conditions for a great race. Scott made his first standing start of the season from third on the grid, closing right up with first place into Turn One. He dropped back into fifth place during the opening laps, but Scott was able to rebound, finishing just a few tenths behind third place at the checkered flag.

Talking about the weekend, Scott said, “With both myself and the team being new to Pro Mazda and having no prior data on street circuits, I am very pleased with our results for the weekend. In addition, this moved us to second place in team points which is a huge accomplishment considering the limited amount of track time we have had as a team.”

Hargrove's next Pro Mazda Championship race will be at Barber Motorsports Park for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama.
