THE IRISH STEAMROLLER – Peter Dempsey wins Round 10 of the Star Mazda Championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park
Sunday, September 14, 2008 / New Jersey Motorsports Park – Peter Dempsey, quickly earning
the nickname 'the Irish Steamroller,' rolled to his fourth victory in the last five races with a lucky
but dominant win in Race 2 / Round 10 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by
Goodyear at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The driver of the #21 Andersen Racing /
LotusWorks /Quayside.ie / Allied Building Products Mazda previously won three races back-toback
at Road America, Trois Rivieres and Mosport.
Finishing second after battling through a weekend informed almost exclusively by bad luck was
Lafayette, Louisiana racer Alex Ardoin, driving the #51 Mundill Racing / Oral & Facial Surgery
Center / Twister Trailer Mazda. Coming home third, despite fighting a bad cold that saw him
collapse on the podium, was the winner of Saturday's Round 1 / Race 9, American John
Edwards in the #7 AIM Autosport / Mobil1 Mazda.

John Edwards, Star Mazda Race 1 winner on pole for
Sunday's Race 2 at New Jersey Motorsports Park
Sunday, September 13, 2008 / New Jersey Motorsports Park – John Edwards, who qualified on
the front row and went on to win Race 1 / Round 9 of the Star Mazda Championship presented
by Goodyear double-header at New Jersey
Motorsports Park, will start from the pole
for this afternoon's Race 2 / Round 10. His
lap of 1:15.168 (104.262 mph) in the #7
AIM Autosport Mobil1 Mazda was almost
8/10ths of a second faster than his
qualifying time for Saturday's race.
"This session was a little different that
yesterdays," said Edwards, a 3-time race
winner in the 2008 season. "On Saturday
the track kept getting better throughout the session and was really good right at the end.
Today, there were a couple of laps in the middle of the session that were good and then it went
away a bit toward the end. The good news was that we finished on top instead of giving it
away like yesterday; hopefully we can duplicate yesterday's race results."

John Edwards Scores His Third Star Mazda Victory in
Race 1/Round 9 at New Jersey Motorsports Park
Saturday, September 13, 2008 / New Jersey
Motorsports Park – American racer John Edwards
snapped the 3-race winning streak of Irishman
Peter Dempsey with a win from the outside of
the front row in Race 1 / Round 9 of the 2008
Star Mazda Championship presented by
Goodyear at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This
is the third win this season for Edwards, who
drives the #7 AIM Autosport Mobil 1 Mazda. He
won from the pole in his first-ever Star Mazda
Championship race at Miller Motorsports Park
and followed that up with a win in Race 2 /
Round 5 at the Mazda Grand Prix of Portland.

who drove the #21 Andersen Racing / LotusWorks / Quayside.ie / Allied Building Products
Mazda to a third-place finish. Finishing first in the Expert Series for drivers aged 30 to 44 was

Joel Miller wins pole for Star Mazda Race 1 at Miller Motorsports Park
Saturday, September 13, 2008 / New Jersey Motorsports Park – Joel Miller, who earned the
nickname "the Rocket Rookie" with his dominant win from the pole in the Star Mazda
Championship presented by Goodyear season-opener at Sebring, re-staked his claim to his
early-season nickname with a dramatic next-to-the-last-lap performance in qualifying. Finding
half a second in the closing minutes, Miller – who currently leads the championship battle -- put
the #20 #20 JDC Motorsports / Mazda / K&N Air Filters Mazda on the pole for this afternoon's
Race 1/Round 9 at New Jersey Motorsports Park with a lap of 1:15.677 (103.561 mph).
"I knew there were about three minutes in the session and the conditions were right for me to
try a real flier," said the 20 year-old from Hesperia, California. "There were fewer cars on the
track, so most of the dust had been blown off and there was a clean, fast line developing. And
I'd had a chance to cool my tires off for a few laps, so I just put my foot down and went for it.
The JDC Motorsports team gave me a great car and I'm really happy to be able to give them the
pole here."

BLAZIN' IN THE GRASS – Star Mazda Championship practice begins at NJMP
Friday, September 12, 2008 / New Jersey
Motorsports Park – Practice kicked off
today for this weekend's Rounds 9 and 10
of the 2008 Star Mazda Championship
presented by Goodyear. With the
exception of a few off-course excursions
that brought drivers into the pits for the
removal of dried grass from their radiator
screens – and the occasional rock from
their radiator – the first three promoter
test sessions leading up to the start of official weekend activities tomorrow morning went off
with only a few minor surprises.
The biggest surprise was provided by the newest member of the Andersen Racing squad,
Finnish driver Valle Mäkelä, making his debut among the Star Mazda Championship regulars by
setting the third-fastest time of 1:16.864 (105.381 mph) in the #31 Andersen Racing / Amitec /
Allied Building Products Mazda. Top time in the first session – 1:16.192 (106.310 mph) was set
by American Joel Miller, the 2007 Skip Barber Pro Series champion who won his ride in the #20
JDC Motorsports / Mazda / K&N Air Filters Mazda courtesy of sponsorship provided by the
MAZDASPEED Motorsports Driver Development Ladder. Second-fast was Peter Dempsey, the
blazing-hot young Irish driver who won the last three races in a row and turned a 1:16.690
(105.620 mph) in the #21 Andersen Racing / LotusWorks/ Allied Building Products Mazda.

Irishman Peter Dempsey is on a hot streak with three wins in a row as the
young guns of the Star Mazda Championship head for a double-header at NJMP
Heading into the 2008 season's
four-race home stretch that begins
with a double-header this weekend
at New Jersey Motorsports Park,
the battle for supremacy inside the
Star Mazda championship
presented by Goodyear is a study in
contradictions.
Irishman Peter Dempsey, driving the #21 Andersen Racing / LotusWorks/ Allied Building
Products Mazda has been red-hot, winning the last three races in a row, yet he is second
in the championship – albeit just one point behind – to American Joel Miller who won
the season-opener at Sebring from the pole in the #20 JDC Motorsports / Mazda / K&N
Air Filters Mazda… but has yet to score a follow-up victory despite four podium finishes.
